A night at the Ball!

Hello. Hope you are all well!

As you may have read in my last post I had a very hectic but totally awesome weekend! Friday night was my Teacher's Ball and I absolutely loved every minute of it! It was brilliant to get together with people that have completed 4 years of uni alongside me and just celebrate!

Upon arrival, at the Park Plaza in Nottingham, we were greeted with a glass of champagne or bucks fizz and were allowed one photo by the photographer. Above is mine with all my favourite people (minus a few sadly) and I love it. They printed it off for us for free and I just think it's a lovely sentiment to keep and look back at!

About an hour later we were allowed into the function room and the tables looked lovely! We had previously picked our own seats so we could sit with our friends and all our places had little name tags. As you can see I was sat opposite Sammy from Bellini Beauty :P

Next up...food!

The food was delicious! Very yummy! I started with some sort of quiche (can't remember exactly what it was haha) lightly diced in balsamic vinegar. It was very tasty and I was very hungry so I also devoured the side bread roll too!

For mains I ordered pork, along with a bit of black pudding, adorable baby apples, potato/parsnip and green beans. This again was yummy. However the pork was very rich and I got quite full quite quick!

Dessert. Now it looks as though I had two but...I originally chose chocolate brownie a while back, however I've discovered that chocolate doesn't agree with me too well so I've given it up. So, when I was faced with chocolate I knew I'd just have to leave it! BUT, my very kind housemate/friend Vicky very nicely offered to swap it for her strawberry cheesecake so I could enjoy a dessert. It was really good of her so thank you...and the cheesecake was lovely! :)

So...what did I wear?...

I absolutely loved my dress!!! It was totally ME with the pretty pink colouring and sparkles on the front. I also love the back of the dress :) It was really comfortable and I felt a little bit like Cinderella or something hehe!

I've never had a proper prom before so I treated this as mine and went all out. The nude clutch bag and shoes are from New Look and I already had my Thomas Sabo bracelet. I had my hair styled by a hairdresser and was really happy with it. I've never been so volume-ised haha!

If you want to know what I did for makeup, you can check out my Get Ready With Me: Teacher's Ball video....

And then it was time to party...!!!

Beep Beep!

Hello! So it's been one hell of a great weekend for me, starting with Teacher's Ball on Friday (post on that to follow). Then Saturday I picked up my new car!!! In fact my first car :D

I am super excited to be the proud owner of a Mini Cooper and even more thrilled that it means I can start getting back some of the independence I lost when I went to Uni almost 4 years ago. I've had to be pretty dependent on my parents in what seems like forever!

As you can probably gather from the picture above, it's an automatic. This was a decision that I had made a long time ago and I certainly have no regrets. Sure, I learnt to drive in a manual and then went on to drive my mum's manual KA for 8 months and was fine but I'm just not a massive clutch fan. Never have been...just personal preference I guess! I feel a bit like it's a dodgem! Hehe love it!

Why call it Pepper? Well the colouring is pepper white so I figured it was a pretty apt and cute name. However me and my friend Emily are referring to it as the Rocket mobile...(We're superheros in disguise...Don't ask lmao!)

Finding an automatic Mini Cooper was no small task let me tell you! It was like finding a needle in a haystack but I have my Mum to thank for her sheer persistence in searching for one. She is a big Mini fan too and has been really excited herself about me getting my car. She was very sweet and bought me a little gift and a kind of 'congratulations on your new car' card (this was the only slightly relevant card the shop had she said!). Bless her!

So yeah, life is pretty darn good at the moment! All these changes are really exciting! I partied/celebrated further last night when I hit the town with some friends and enjoyed some lovely tunes on my way in, courtesy of the birds when I arrived home at 4am this morning lol. Walking past Pepper I had to give her a little pat, still in disbelief that I have a car hehe!

I also love how my number plate basically starts with the word 'YES'...
I've recently decided that I'm going to start saying yes to a lot more things and to enjoy life to the max, so it's quite apt! :)

Hope everyone had a good weekend! Bring on Bank Holiday antics next weekend!!! :D

Collective Haul: Topshop, Boohoo...

Hello! I've been doing a fair bit of shopping lately so I thought I'd show you what I picked up :)

First up, clothing...

I'm absolutely loving the cartoon inspired look that's everywhere at the moment! Topshop's  'Kaboom' crop top for £14 really caught my eye! I decided to complete the outfit by pairing it with some pale blue skinny high-waisted jeans, perfect for crop tops! Typical for Topshop jeans they were £36 but imo the price is very worth it because their jeans tend to be super soft and comfortable! Love love love!

Next up, Boohoo...my favourite online shop!...

I love the vibrant colour of this dress and the cut out design around the chest area. It's just about as body-con as you can get but I think this is an ideal 'clubbing' dress and I may well be hitting the town in this on Saturday :)

As I say I'm all about the cartoon at the minute, so when I saw this dress it went straight into my basket! I adore the colour scheme of the dress...so very seasonal! And the cute collar design along with one sleeve really appeals to me. Again it's body-con but this doesn't give the uber-tight effect. I adore how unique this dress is so you are very unlikely to meet someone out wearing the same....Bring on bank holiday weekend woop woop!

Fancy dress...

My friend is having a hippie-themed birthday night out in June so I nipped into Luvyababes fancy dress shop yesterday. At £14.99 the costume was pretty inexpensive and, although you can't see from the picture, I like how it has a flower cut-out bit around the stomach! I also bought some 60's style earrings to complete the look...although they are clip-ons so my ears are probably going to hurt like hell by the end of the night haha! Nevermind!

Make-up...

Surprisingly I haven't bought a great deal of the cosmetic types of late. However, whilst in Topshop the nail polish 'hidden treasure' really appealed to me. It reminds me of Chanel's Peridot varnish (I have been lusting over that from afar for ages) and with a £6 price tag I decided it might help to keep my Chanel cravings at bay for a bit!

I also found myself in Boots looking at the new Maybelline mascara. I'm a massive fan of their 'falsies' mascara so I have high hopes for this Mega Plush one. There is also a offer on atm with it reduced from £7.99 to £5.99, so it was a no-brainer really :P

And last but not least, all in the name of fitness...

I popped into Holland and Barrett's to get my protein fix! I may do a separate post about protein shakes and what not because it's a new thing for me...but yeah, got me some powder and bars! Hehe <3

So there we go...

I have also recently bought a beautiful dress, some heels, a clutch bag and some nail polish in aid of my teacher's ball tomorrow! But I will be doing some sort of post in relation to that after the event! So keep an eye out!

A very pink NOTD :)

Hey guys. So I picked up this vibrant pink shade a few weeks ago now and I've only just managed to try it out! I've been neglecting my nails of late so thought I'd add a splash of colour today...and boy is it a good colour!

When Model's Own brought out their neon collection I was immediately drawn to the pink shade. I love PINK!

Called Bubblegum, it's easy to apply and quick drying. Two very important things I look for in a polish. Patience isn't my forte when it comes to nails :P

I don't believe the photo quite does the colour justice but I think it's just perfect for sunshine months! Granted today started drizzly and wet for me, but now the sun's managed to break through. Bank holiday weekend was just gorgeous, for a change!

If you love pink and want to catch eyes this Spring/Summer I'd say go grab yourself a pot of this. It retails for just £5! Bargain.

Happy Monday!

Hello :) So I am in such an incredibly happy mood I thought I'd do a little post!

I actually think that this weekend has been the best weekend of my life!!! It obviously got off to an amazing start with the job offer on Friday and I was literally, and still am, completely overwhelmed! Despite contemplating celebrating with the odd alcoholic beverage I decided what I really wanted was a BIG FAT Mcdonald's haha so that's what I did!

Saturday I gave myself a well deserved chill day and got on with making my April Favourites video. I later watched some literally sick horror film called Mother's Day. Has anyone else seen it? I love a bit of gore so it made me very happy...I'm a bit weird sometimes hehe :)

SUNDAY, the day of all days. I started it by making a requested video about university before meeting up with a friend for lunch. I devoured a gammon and really enjoyed chatting away about teaching and what not, as she too is a teacher.

And then it was time to hit the town! And boy did we hit it good! I had one of the best night's ever :D Sounds cheesy but it's so true. You see... when you go out with your zumba instructor what happens is that you all end up breaking out into synchronized dancing! Obviously forgetting there's a club full of people watching haha....was so so much fun!

Rolled in this morning about 3am before spending part of the afternoon car hunting!....o0o sooo exciting :D I'll keep you guys posted on any developments on this!! Then later my parents took me for lunch where I had yet more gammon lol and then I worked out pretty good at the gym. Yay!

So yeah, I'm pretty much still buzzing over how great the last few days have been and rather excited about the big changes that are already starting to happen in my life. I haven't driven for 4 years (since uni) and so I've booked myself a refresher driving lesson next week with my old instructor to try and get some of my confidence back! (Bit scared, can't lie, but I'm going to take it as it comes and see what happens lol).

How was your weekends?!

:D :D :D If you're happy and you know it clap your hands... :)

Oh and my mood just got better by realising it's a Monday so MIC is on at 10pm. Yes.

April Favourites

Hi guys. Sorry I'm late with the monthly favourites but if you decide to watch my video you'll realise why!

With a big bank holiday night out planned for tonight I'm going to take the lazy route and rather than do a full blog post on my April faves I'll direct you to my YouTube Video instead! (Click my picture!)

Hope you don't mind just this once :P

Have a good weekend everyone!

L'Oreal Paris GlamShine Stain Splash

Hello!

I've never been the kind of girl to keep a gloss in my bag at all times. In fact I've never really enjoyed wearing lip gloss. I dislike sticky glosses and it usually results in my long hair being stuck to my lips! Nice!

So, over the last couple of years I've avoided glosses like the plague and gone for lipsticks. And although you can get a pretty decent shine from nourishing lipsticks these days...I never find them to quite give the same effect as a gloss.

When the YSL Glossy Stains came out and received major HYPE I really wanted to try one. But with the rather expensive price tag I couldn't quite commit to buying one, especially as I was unsure as to whether I'd get on with it (with it being a gloss and all).

Sooo when L'Oreal brought out a similar concept I was quite excited. At £7.99 it certainly won't break the bank and I figured if I didn't like it I'd give it away or something.

This gloss is certainly a KEEPER! I absolutely can't get enough of it! It's texture is pretty thin and so I usually apply a few coats for good measure. It goes on like a dream, very smooth, and it tastes/smells delicious with a nice fruity essence!

I have the shade Romy which is a rather pale pink. It goes on quite sheer but once it settles on your lips the colour begins to come out a little more, giving your lips a nice subtle glossy pink finish.

It is definitely not 'sticky' but like a sticky gloss it has really good staying power! I've applied it 2 hours previous to going to the gym before and after my workout I've noticed that the hint of pink is still there!

I'm really impressed and I'm certainly looking to purchase more of these beauties...maybe in a darker shade next time! :)

Thanks to this gloss I have now got rid of my little lip gloss phobia and may just have to invest in a YSL one :)

I got a job!

Hello!

So I'm going to keep this short and sweet because my brain is fried but just to let you all know I GOT A JOB! Literally about 4 hours ago :)

Thank you to everyone who wished me well and shared in the stressful times! It has been a rollacoaster few weeks with school visits, letter writing and interview rejections...but today it all paid off!

Just goes to show that you do get out what you put in, eventually! As if I'm going to have my own little class of 5 year-olds in September!!! Amazing and super exciting :D
