What a weekend!

Hey. So my weekend started amazingly well on Friday evening, with the opening night of my musical! The show was 'Sunshine on Leith' and I played one of the cleaners. I had such a fantastic time on stage and loved having the opportunity to wear a head mic! :) My parents also came to watch so I was happy they got to see what I had been rehearsing for, for pretty much the whole summer hols!

Life was good and we got a late night chippy after the show. I was starving!

Then things took a turn for the worse....

Before going to bed at 12:20pm I decided to wash out my protein shake flask ready for breakfast the next day. I was tired from a long day teaching at school and then of course performing so it wasn't the best idea ever! Stupidly I poured boiling water into the plastic flask and added a Steradent cleaning tablet. As soon as I put the lid on it exploded. It went off like a bottle of champagne and went everywhere! It made me jump and I screamed. I knew the boiling water had gone on my hand so I quickly put it in cold water but I wasn't aware of any damage...until the pain started!

The seering burning pain I got when I took my hand from the water made me realise I'd hurt myself. As I started to examine my hand further I started to panic a bit as I realised the burns were much more serious than I'd ever had before. My skin had gone white in places and had almost dented in with wrinkles of skin.

After having my hand in water for a while I rang 111 to see what they'd advise. Immediately they told me to go to A&E but I resisted this idea as I couldn't drive and had no one to take me at now about 1am! However I quickly realised that the pain was unbearable and I followed their advice and wrapped my hand in cling film. In agony I rang a taxi and arrived at A&E at around 1:40am.

The cling film really helped to take away the pain- the 2x ibuprofen and 2x paracetamol did nothing previously. And then I waited...and waited...and nodded...and waited...until finally at about 5am I finally got seen!

Having taken off the cling film it was clear that blisters had now formed and I was told I had superficial second degree burns. The doctor told me to leave it uncovered for the night but to dress it to protect it later in the day.

Awkwardly there are burns situated between my two fingers (the blistered ones), which means I can't separate them! And with it being my right hand, and I'm a very right-handed person, it makes life very hard!

My hand now looks like this and although I managed to do my final show last night, everyday things are impossible! I can't write, I can't tie up my own hair, can't wash my hair or get my hand wet so my mum has that lovely job later! I'm unsure whether I can drive (testing this theory out shortly). I don't know how I'm going to do my job tomorrow if I can't fasten my own coat, let alone a child's!? So yes, I've well and truly messed things up for myself haven't I!

Note to self: Do not put boiling water into plastic containers, especially with lids!!! *IDIOT!*

Hope you're having a more successful weekend than me?!

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside...

Hello. So I'm a little behind with this post as it's already mid-week but I wanted to quickly share my weekend with you. I headed down to sunny Skegness- sadly not so sunny! However despite the overcast weather it was very enjoyable.

As a kid I would often go down to Skegness with my family as a mini getaway. With it being around a 2 hour drive from my house, I believe it's my nearest beach and hence I'd love going to the seaside!

My friend Abi, also a primary teacher and whom I met whilst at Uni, just so happens to live there! I hadn't seen in her over a year (how time flies!!!) and so we arranged for me to stay the weekend and have a good old catch-up :)

We did a bit of shopping when I arrived and I bought some fab shoes which I will later blog about as I simply love them!...
But of course when at the seaside you just have to visit the beach. So on Saturday we had a lovely beach day with her friend Erica along with 3 kids (relatives). It was rather windy but pleasant and not particularly cold, although I did wear my coat and jeans. We had a lot of difficulty putting up the windbreak on the beach (haha how I still laugh about our efforts, bashing a rock on the poles and what not) but we did half successfully put it up eventually!

There's a lovely water play area for children not too far from the beach too. I couldn't get any pictures as I thought it might be inappropriate with other children about but our 3 kids really enjoyed paddling and splashing about despite the not particularly warm weather. I can imagine it to be a very popular place when the sun's out though!

Another unwritten rule whilst at the seaside: ice cream! I need no excuse to get a Mr Whippy let me tell you. They're one of my favourite treats. The strawberry sauce and flake simply topped it off :p yum yum! I have to say a big well done to Abi as she managed to resist a ice cream in aid of being healthy and sticking to her diet plan! Very proud! :)

Usually when I go to Skeg I would say there's also a law where you have to have fish and chips. Honestly fish and chips at its finest. However on this occasion Abi's mum made us the best roast dinner ever!! It was so nice!

Saturday night Abi's friend invited us to play bingo at a local hall. I could tell she was worried I'd find it boring or something but I've always wanted to give bingo a go so I was more than up for it. I started the game really excited and convinced my numbers would come out...however sadly neither of us won anything haha. Nevertheless I really enjoyed playing and I definitely want to seek out a bingo place near me because I want to play again! :)

I had a fab weekend visiting Skeg and catching up with one of my loveliest friends! I'd definitely recommend giving it a visit if you've never been. It's always a fun trip out.

As with any tourist place, there are loads of souvenir and gift shops. I usually like to treat myself to a sugar dummy or a keyring or something. However this time, after already purchasing my shoes from New Look, I bought a friend a cute little fridge magnet. The cool ice cream design really stood out and as she collects them, I couldn't resist!

Thanks to Abi for being a great host! I really had a brilliant weekend.

What did you guys get up to?

Happy Monday!

Hello :) So I am in such an incredibly happy mood I thought I'd do a little post!

I actually think that this weekend has been the best weekend of my life!!! It obviously got off to an amazing start with the job offer on Friday and I was literally, and still am, completely overwhelmed! Despite contemplating celebrating with the odd alcoholic beverage I decided what I really wanted was a BIG FAT Mcdonald's haha so that's what I did!

Saturday I gave myself a well deserved chill day and got on with making my April Favourites video. I later watched some literally sick horror film called Mother's Day. Has anyone else seen it? I love a bit of gore so it made me very happy...I'm a bit weird sometimes hehe :)

SUNDAY, the day of all days. I started it by making a requested video about university before meeting up with a friend for lunch. I devoured a gammon and really enjoyed chatting away about teaching and what not, as she too is a teacher.

And then it was time to hit the town! And boy did we hit it good! I had one of the best night's ever :D Sounds cheesy but it's so true. You see... when you go out with your zumba instructor what happens is that you all end up breaking out into synchronized dancing! Obviously forgetting there's a club full of people watching haha....was so so much fun!

Rolled in this morning about 3am before spending part of the afternoon car hunting!....o0o sooo exciting :D I'll keep you guys posted on any developments on this!! Then later my parents took me for lunch where I had yet more gammon lol and then I worked out pretty good at the gym. Yay!

So yeah, I'm pretty much still buzzing over how great the last few days have been and rather excited about the big changes that are already starting to happen in my life. I haven't driven for 4 years (since uni) and so I've booked myself a refresher driving lesson next week with my old instructor to try and get some of my confidence back! (Bit scared, can't lie, but I'm going to take it as it comes and see what happens lol).

How was your weekends?!

:D :D :D If you're happy and you know it clap your hands... :)

Oh and my mood just got better by realising it's a Monday so MIC is on at 10pm. Yes.
